Julie has been involved with aquatics for the last 30 years with certifications and experience in many areas. She started by lifeguarding and teaching lifeguarding, both pool and open water as well as enjoying teaching swimming and coaching swimming for High School, Masters, and age group swimmers. She worked as a whitewater rafting guide and instructor in California, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, North Carolina, and South Carolina with certifications in Swift Water Rescue Technician and Advanced Swift Water, as well as the guide licenses required for different states. In addition, she taught SCUBA diving classes including Rescue Diver as a Dive Master for PADI and any other training courses certified. Julie currently works as an Engine Captain in the San Francisco Bay area and is a Water Rescue Specialist and Planning Team Manager for one of California's FEMA USAR teams. As a current California State Fire Marshal Instructor, she helps instruct the Surface Water Rescue and the Surf Boat Rescue Course for Fire Management Consultant Marine Division.
