Fire Management Consultant: Fuels Management Explained

Fuels Management Mission

The mission of our Fuels Management Division is to provide home owners, property managers and organizations a unique firefighter perspective in providing a safe and efficient clearance around property to prevent loss of life and property during a wildland fire.

Fuels Management Overview

FMC has an active fuels management program designed to minimize the wildland fire threat to our customers (the residents) and (property owners). FMC though public education works with individual homeowners to ensure that the recommended 30 to 100 foot clearance for defensible space around structures is accomplished. Please feel free to ask for a free courtesy property inspection to learn more about defensible space.

FMC also maintains a fuels management crew that works closely with the Fire Safe Councils, and various homeowner and neighborhood groups to perform fuels modification projects to lessen the risk of fire in the vegetated areas of the District. Through trimming and clearing of vegetation, the fuel ladder is broken, slowing down wildland fires spread to structures. All fuels management projects are conducted using fuels management plans and accepted practices.

FMC also provides weed abatement for property owners and property managers to reduce the fire threat in local communities as well as rural, city, and districts. Our Licensed contractors are experienced in vegetation removal, fire resistive landscape programs, and fire laws and regulations.

We provide wood chipping, mowing and debris removal services and transportation of vegetation to the closest recycling facility.
